Phat founder, entertainment mogul Russell Simmons inspires youth at Fashion Lab
Fashion icon Russell Simmons led on hands-on, how-to seminar on the workings of the fashion industry as part of Hiram Smith’s first Fashion Lab of the season. The at-capacity event is part of a program instituted last year for inner-city youth in New Orleans by Smith’s company, HiramStyle, LLC. Simmons, the entertainment mogul and philanthropist who parlayed his dominance in hip hop music culture from Def Jam Records to an empire which included highly successful urban clothing lines—best know in fashion for Phat Farm, Baby Phat and Run Athletics brands—told the youth that nothing was beyond their accomplishment.
